this-these und that-those:

this (Nähe Singular):
“this” verwendet man, wenn sich etwas in der Nähe (near the speaker – örtlich und zeitlich) befindet und im Singular steht.
Signalwort: “here”
Beispiele:
Frank, this is my brother.
Do you want this book here?
Mit “this” beschreibt man auch Vorgänge/Dinge, die gerade begonnen haben oder noch beginnen.
z.B. This is a great day (heute).
these (Nähe Plural):
“these” verwendet man, wenn sich etwas in der Nähe (near the speaker – örtlich und zeitlich) befindet und im Plural steht.
Signalwort: “here”
Beispiele:
Frank, these are my brothers.
Do you want these books here?
that (Ferne Singular):
“that” verwendet man, wenn sich etwas weiter weg (farther away – örtlich und zeitlich) befindet und im Singular steht.
Signalwort: “over there”
Beispiele:
Do you see that castle on the hill?
Do you want that book over there?
Mit “that” beschreibt man auch Vorgänge/Dinge, die schon vorbei sind.
z.B. That was a great day (gestern).
those (Ferne Plural):
“those” verwendet man, wenn sich etwas weiter weg (father away – örtlich und zeitlich) befindet und im Plural steht.
Signalwort: “over there”
